![]() (1) The "fake patch" method (manually copying in files and renumbering cat/dat files by hand) works best for the XRM. (See the next section for Albion Prelude installation instructions.) Terran Conflict Installation Instructions: If you want to run XRM for both games, you will need to use two separate installations. Albion Prelude requires a clean Terran Conflict install to exist below it, as any mod cat/dat files are first loaded from TC and then from AP. It addresses crash issues on Linux and uses sound files compatible with the codecs available on OS X.Īlso, advanced Linux and Mac users may consider copying mod directories in or above the game's root directory and symbolically linking files for the sake of organization, debugging, and upgrade purposes.ĭo not try to install XRM (or any major mods for that matter) to both Terran Conflict and Albion Prelude within the same X3: Terran War Pack installation. XRM and associated links can be found in the official mod thread on the EgoSoft forums here:ĭo not install Part 3 if you are running Linux or Mac OS X. It has been designed with performance and playability in mind and has many exclusive features not available in other mods or scripts. It rebalances nearly all aspects of the game including ships, weapons, graphics, sounds and the universe itself, as well as adding a huge amount of new content. The X3 Rebalance Mod (XRM) is a total conversion mod of X3 Terran Conflict. I will only include extra instructions for the most popular associated mods and those which I use, along with some additional notes and recommendations.Īs there is a lot to cover, major sections may be broken into separate comments. These instructions are based on the official mod thread on the EgoSoft forums, but have been heavily modified and reorganized to cover installation on the GOG version of the games, as well as to provide further consideration for Linux and Apple OS X users and general clarity. not Terran Conflict. The following instructions explain how to install the popular X3 Rebalance Mod ( XRM v1.30d) to GOG's X3: Terran War Pack, which includes both X3: Terran Conflict (also known as X3TC or TC) and X3: Albion Prelude (also known as X3AP or AP). Also make sure you are using ALBION PRELUDE. It removes some of the very annoying sounds from the UI and looks great. So small ships it will use fast projectile speed weapons if they are in your inventory and big ships it will change them to high dmg turrets.Īlso for the UI variation from LU I suggest Tryxx's Kyanite. I also use a mod that works in both SWLU and Mayhem called Smart Turrets, which automatically changes out turrets depending on the situation. VERY streamlined and modern experience compared to original game.įor Mayhem you just grab the Mayhem 3.3 main file, the Mayhem graphics file and the optional soundtrack file, extract and copy them all into your main install folder AFTER installing LU. This is Mayhem 3.3 - All about war and Empire. Just extract and copy files into /addon folder AFTER installing LU. Then this is SWLU and GiC - very immersive and fun, massive ship and weapon changesĭont forget to grab GiC from the addons page as well. Then copy the LU game folder to make two game folders and that way you can play SWLU and Mayhem to check them both out without reinstalling. ![]() ![]() I suggest trying them out, I suspect they will be all you need and both are based off LU, which has its own installers and easy to follow guides that I will link to. Also comes with an epic galaxy generation tool. Another truly amazing mod that also requires Lightcubes universe. His Quality of life enhancements are literally best in show and while he has stripped the economy to bare basics, he did it to enable AI to focus on doing nothing but maintaining its economy to produce ships to conquer other systems and make war. I combine that with its addon called Galaxy in conflict and it is amazing, truly.įor sheer Empire management and war simulation there is no other mod to use other than Mayhem 3.3, imo. The most immersive and pretty mod I play is called Star Wars LU, a modification of the Lightcubes Universe mod. The mods I use after years of exploring many of them are super simple and really get at all my X needs that I used to solve with like 40 mods. Its either copy and replace files in the /addon folder or naming a cat file. Mods for X3 are SUPER simple to install anyway. Yeah I would think that this game is a little too old for Vortex, does it even list the game as supported?
